We are thrilled to announce exciting new leadership roles for Aren Murcar, Lauren Schubring, and Genevieve Dial in the planning group at SCJ Alliance! Their dedication and expertise will continue to shape our success as we serve clients and communities across the region.
Aren Murcar, AICP – Spokane Office Principal; Senior Project Manager
Aren’s journey at SCJ began as an intern while completing his master’s degree at Eastern Washington University. Recognizing his incredible potential, our Spokane team welcomed him full-time, and since then, Aren has been a key leader across projects in Montana, Idaho, Washington, and Texas.
Eric Johnston, SCJ’s EVP/COO, shared:
“Aren has a passion for helping small communities in the Pacific Northwest and is also a big proponent of alternative transportation modes. He seamlessly transitioned from supporting to leading roles on projects in San Antonio, Quincy, Ritzville, and Livingston, and he’s always ready for the next big challenge.”
Aren most recently served as Spokane’s Planning Manager and now steps into the role of Spokane Office Principal.
Lauren Schubring, MURP, MPA – Spokane Planning Manager; Planner
Stepping into Aren’s previous role, Lauren Schubring brings her leadership and collaborative spirit as the new Spokane Planning Manager. Aren shared his excitement for her expanded role:
“Lauren has become a trusted and valued leader in our Spokane office over the past two and a half years. She leads with kindness and humility and truly cares about making SCJ a great place to work. I know she’ll excel leading our production planning staff in Spokane.”
Lauren’s leadership and dedication were recently recognized when she received the 2024 SCJ Cares Award for her outstanding character and passion for helping communities envision and achieve brighter futures.
Genevieve Dial, MURP – Director of Planning; Senior Project Manager
Genevieve joined SCJ this fall, bringing a wealth of experience from her work with the State of Washington, including State Parks and the Department of Commerce—two agencies SCJ frequently collaborates with. Her expertise also includes partnering with military communities to address land use and planning impacts.
Beginning January 1, Genevieve will step into her new role as Director of Planning and join SCJ’s leadership team. Alicia Ayars, SCJ’s current Director of Planning and VP of Strategy shared:
“Genevieve has been an exceptional partner, even before joining SCJ. At Commerce, she helped clients navigate technical planning requirements and connected SCJ with potential projects. I deeply value her extensive expertise, calm demeanor, and approachable leadership.”
Looking Ahead
Congratulations to Aren, Lauren, and Genevieve for embracing these leadership roles! We are excited for the next chapter and confident in the opportunities their leadership will bring to SCJ, our clients, and the communities we serve.
