Two very different awards. Two very different winners. One repeated theme: core values.
SCJ’s highest honors are the annual Entrepreneurial Award and the SCJ Cares Award, recognizing employee service. The nominations for this year’s winners highlight SCJ’s commitment to these ideals, in both cases praising the winners for their commitment to the company’s core values.
Alissa North, SCJ’s lead project coordinator, earned the esteemed SCJ Cares award. Her colleagues nominated her for her trustworthiness, positive and fun personality, and listening ear. “She cares about SCJ and it is clear in her dedication to everyone and everything here,” said one nominator. She was heralded for working tirelessly, going above and beyond, and truly striving to make our community a better place.
That commitment to service extends past the company walls. “Apart from the office, Alissa and her husband are constantly serving others, whether it’s donation of services, helping someone move, or organizing support for friends and colleagues. Alissa cares deeply and selflessly for her coworkers, friends, and community,” said another nominator. “….she’s a great example of the SCJ values.”
Charity Duffy, a senior planner in SCJ’s Wenatchee office, earned the Entrepreneurial Award. “Entrepreneurial spirit is a mindset,” said Wenatchee Office Principal Dan Ireland. “It’s an attitude and approach to thinking. It embraces critical questioning, innovation, service, and continuous improvement – all qualities we see in Charity every day as she serves clients.”
Another nominator wrote, “This year I’d like to nominate Charity Duffy for being such an amazing collaborator, a true representative of our core values, and a standout when serving our clients.” Charity is also active as a board member for the Planning Association of Washington.
SCJ President and CEO Jean Carr echoed the thoughts of others, saying, “Both Charity and Alissa embrace our core values of stewardship, freedom, compassion, trust, and integrity that guide SCJ’s relationships – both with clients and colleagues. We are grateful for their service.”
