Over 10,000 acres of public access lands utilized by hiking and biking enthusiasts is being loved to death. For nearly eight decades the foothills west of Wenatchee have been used by motorized and non-motorized trail users with no formal trails plan. That is changing.

SCJ Alliance designers assisted the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust in developing the Foothills Trail Plan. The plan – developed in collaboration with the City of Wenatchee, Chelan County, Chelan PUD and Washington Department of Natural Resources – reflects a vision for conservation and recreation in the foothills west of Wenatchee.

The plan calls for the realignment of unsustainable trails, closure of two track corridors, formalized trail access points, and trailhead development – all in balance with significant conservation and weed management efforts.
