INVOLVEMENT
2012
For this exciting project, which reclaimed a warehouse on Wenatchee’s waterfront for the Pybus Public Market, SCJ’s landscape architects developed the landscape and irrigation plans. Design staff collaborated with the landowner’s engineer and the project architect to refine the site plan to accomplish the market’s goals for creating a sense of place and to create opportunities for outdoor activities and amenities. We developed the plant and hardscape materials palettes that create a distinct identity for the site while also accomplishing goals of seasonal interest, low water consumption and maintenance requirements.
The site is adjacent to the Riverfront Park and the Apple Capital Loop Trail, and connects to downtown via the Orondo Street corridor.
STAFF STORY
“The development of Pybus was an enormously important project in Wenatchee. The riverfront plan adopted by the City had been stalled by a poor economy and a long history of industrial uses at the site. The developer and design team rolled up their sleeves and made the project a reality. We were grateful to be a part of a team working on such an important project.”
