INVOLVEMENT
2014-2016

To many community members, the replacement of McDonald’s in Port Angeles, Wash. probably seemed like a straightforward “swap.” In reality, the redevelopment of the existing 1.3-acre, high-profile site was closer to starting from scratch.

The project, which demolished the old building, included SCJ reworking most aspects of the site’s infrastructure including grading, sewer, water, and stormwater. SCJ also designed new parking, retaining walls, and landscaping. The construction resulted in a 5,155-square-foot McDonald’s restaurant with PlayPlace, associated parking lot and drive thru.

SCJ is also working on a McDonald’s in Albany, Oregon, and Port Orchard, Washington.

STAFF STORY

“This is a high-profile site within the City of Port Angeles and the City called it the unofficial gateway to the City of Port Angeles.  We worked closely with the City and alleviated their concerns during the design process.  It was our first re-build project with McDonald’s, so we were eager to impress.  Our proactive communication style on this project, teaming approach with the City and McDonald’s, and attention to detail resulted in a successful project for all parties.”
