Breckenridge, CO

Breckenridge Ski Resort lies in the heart of Colorado’s Summit County. It has over a million skier days each year and a booming summer tourism draw.

Breckenridge investigated the feasibility of using a mountain train to provide an all-weather high level of transport from the base of the resort to the top of their famous Peak Eight.

SCJ staff provided preliminary engineering, a feasibility study, guideway preliminary engineering, cost analysis, and station layout.

The team established survey control and topographic mapping of funicular corridors and investigated several profile alignments including bridge and bridge/tunnel options.

They also developed a preliminary bridge design, schematic plans of the funicular terminals, and preliminary plans for a mountain top restaurant.
