Water and Sewer
SCJ Alliance engineers have developed water and sewer projects for both small and large municipal projects, often coordinating with multiple jurisdictions while consistently delivering projects featuring a strong level of quality assurance and quality control. We understand funding is scarce, and our clients appreciate our ability to coordinate water and sewer improvements with private development and street projects.
Stormwater
Being located in the Pacific Northwest we are no stranger to stormwater, which can be a difficult topic to tackle. No project is the same and nearly everything about the building/site affects the best way to deal with the water. From simple catch basins to complex filtration, rain gardens to dewatering processes, SCJ Alliance is poised to design a stormwater system that best fits your site and project.
Traffic Engineering
We envision transportation projects as ways to connect a community, rather than dividing lines through them. SCJ’s transportation team blends the skills of transportation planners, traffic engineers, urban planners and environmental experts as we assist you with corridor studies, regional transportation plans, signal system engineering, intersection design and travel demand modeling. We are recognized leaders in the transportation field, as comfortable working with small, rural towns as we are on multi-jurisdictional, interstate projects.
Public Outreach and Facilitation
Public outreach is a critical component of many SCJ Alliance projects. Effective public outreach inspires engagement and provides meaningful two-way communication. Each situation is unique: we collaborate with clients to identify key stakeholders and the best methods for communicating with them. Project strategy development, coordination of stakeholder meetings and advisory groups, internet applications and public open houses are all tools we use for issue identification, guidance and consensus building.
Municipal Support (On-Call) & Peer Review
We’ve worked both sides of the counter…as applicant and staff. Many small communities don’t have the need (or resources) to hire full-time engineering staff. Other jurisdictions have special “one-off” projects requiring expertise beyond their staff’s experience. SCJ is called upon to help in these types of situations. We expect the unexpected and the variety that comes with serving small communities that are subject to the same expectations as larger communities.
Need a second set of eyes? A skilled, critical thinker to provide a second opinion? SCJ is regularly called upon for peer review of development projects and permit review assistance. We are also called upon for stormwater, sewer and water system design review. Peer review allows municipalities to streamline approval processes and ensure responsible development.
Grant Writing
SCJ has a proven track record of preparing applications and securing funding for critical infrastructure, planning and public safety projects. We can help you identify potential funding sources to leverage limited resources, as well as support development of your application. From coordinating and preparing the entire application, to just creating materials such as graphics, timelines or budgets to strengthen your application, SCJ finds great value in helping communities gain funding to take a project to reality.
