The SCJ team really got to showcase our talents on this project, which started as 9-plus acres of bare land. SCJ was approached by the developer, and we worked with their commercial broker to explore what might be possible for this Elma, Wash. site. The result was six pad-ready commercial building lots.
The effort included site master planning, construction of Eagle Drive to serve the commercial development, as well as frontage improvements to E Main Street and a portion of US Highway 12 extension. Design of sidewalks, curbs and gutters, street lighting, bike lanes, and utility improvements were all included. SCJ also prepared construction documents for the pads.
Other improvements were made to the City of Elma’s storm system, water main, sewer main, and utility lines, including undergrounding power, cable, and phone.
Fun fact! Approximately 25,000 cubic yards of structural fill was imported for this development.
“This project was a great teaming effort between the City, the developer, PUD, and our in-house planning, environmental, and civil site engineers to bring more economic development to the City of Elma. It was ultimately successful thanks in part to SCJ’s wetland and WSDOT expertise in addition to our land development skills.”
