This project, a key part of the City of Puyallup’s Sidewalk Link Program, focused on the design and preparation of comprehensive Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E) for a continuous pedestrian sidewalk along the east side of Wildwood Park Drive SE, between 31st Avenue SE and 26th Avenue SE. The project aimed to provide safe pedestrian access between Wildwood Park Elementary and Ferrucci Junior High School while preserving the existing 24-foot-wide roadway. The design included a stormwater conveyance system with an integral infiltration trench and nonstructural retaining walls to manage grade transitions. All curb ramps were designed to meet ADA standards, and provisions were made for future street lighting by including spare conduit and junction boxes. A pedestrian safety study evaluated the need for a flashing beacon at the 26th Ave SE crossing. SCJ coordinated extensively with public and private utilities to prevent conflicts and supported the City’s public engagement strategy through website updates and informational mailers. In addition, SCJ prepared a technical memo for the crossing, developed stormwater site plans and a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), and assisted during bidding and construction.
