Pierce County’s Orangegate Park accommodates recreational activities not readily accessible in the greater Tacoma area. Horseback riders, walkers with leashed pets, hikers, joggers, bird watchers, and mountain bikers are welcome on the undeveloped, a primarily wooded 150-acre parcel of land. However, while the park’s first master plan was developed in 2007, it was never implemented. In collaboration with Pierce County Parks and community stakeholders, SCJ is leading the effort to establish a new master plan for the park and then implement the first design phase.

This project will be completed in series to create a master plan for Half-Dollar Park, an undeveloped 3.5-acre property located about five miles from Orangegate. When complete, the Pipeline Trail will provide expanded non-motorized commuting and recreation along the Tacoma Water Pipeline. The preliminary design is complete, and planning is underway for the design and construction of Phase 1, which will connect the trail to Orangegate Park.
