The Oakland Athletics wanted to build a new stadium, but the Bay Area’s popular public transportation system, the BART, wouldn’t reach the proposed location. SCJ Alliance worked with the team to evaluate an urban gondola system that would connect the new stadium to Oakland’s downtown core. Fans would have better access to the ballpark through the existing BART system and use fewer parking spaces at the Howard Terminal site.
SCJ has completed a Conceptual Design Study and a Preliminary Economic & Technical Assessment for the privately-funded aerial transit system that would move more than 6,000 people per hour in each direction using 3S gondola technology. The design team also provided the A’s with preliminary engineering for public engagement and the California Environmental Quality Act and providing budget analysis for the capital and operational costs of the system.
