SCJ managed this multi-phased study to assess the need for improvements to serve current and potential future industrial development in the northern portion of Lewis County. This study included developing an extensive list of options to enhance multimodal access to industrial properties, including local street improvements, modified or expanded access to I-5, and active transportation improvements to reduce truck impacts on the local bicycle and pedestrian circulation. A multi-step process was implemented to evaluate these options that actively engaged local and state elected officials, local businesses and freight movers, local agency staff, special interest groups, and the general public. The study also includes evaluating improvements at existing rail/street crossings near Reynolds Avenue at Blakeslee Junction to reduce train delays to the motoring public.
