With the removal of smaller classroom buildings on campus and the design of a new Student Services and Instructional Building (SSIB), the Grays Harbor College campus needed more than just new public spaces and a landscape setting for the new building. The College also wanted to create a new, reoriented Quad / Commons space that would bring this campus setting together and give it a cohesive identity. As part of this reshaped Commons space, a new, accessible campus pedestrian entry plaza was needed. SCJ Alliance worked with KMB Architects to conceptualize and refine the Commons layout and the landscape design for the entry, commons area, and new building, including a relocated endowed azalea garden. The work included plantings as well as hardscape and irrigation design and LEED documentation for a wide array of site based LEED credits.
