From Soggy to Spectacular: A Waterfront Estate

Mercer Island Waterfront Estate 11The creative minds at Project Groundwork, a residential landscape architecture studio in our Seattle office, find no greater satisfaction than successfully integrating a client’s vision and needs into a well-thought-out plan that is site sensitive, allows Mercer Island Waterfront Estate 19for outdoor living, provides four season appeal and increases the property value while meeting the client’s budget expectations.

We think they knocked this one out of the park!

A Mercer Island couple wanted to transform their yard from mushy lawn into a more usable, beach-like space. We added new concrete pads to connect the stairs to the waterfront complete with salvaged, cedar logs around a deconstructed wood-burning firepit, invigorating the space and creating a place to relax and entertain right on the water.

Closer to the house, an ipe deck built around a new Paloform gas firepit created a new outdoor room for enjoying endless summer evenings. LED landscape lighting completes the improvements.

The client had this to say:

Mercer Island Waterfront Estate 6“We actually called Mark based on his previous Houzz projects, and we were not disappointed! He took our waterfront property from an unimaginative, hard-to-use yard to a beautiful, serene space where we can enjoy the outdoors in any weather! He listened to our unorganized ideas and turned them into a beautiful landscape we are looking forward to enjoying for years to come. And most importantly, he was fun to work with…his enthusiasm and knowledge are fantastic!”

  1. I’ve been wanting to make my home fancy looking. I didn’t know that you could hire an engineer who specializes in landscape! It seems like that would be the best way to make my home look nicer. Thanks for sharing! http://downcape.com/
