The project will also help neighbors “go places” by alleviating traffic on nearby roads. SCJ is working with both the dealership and the City of Tumwater to create the new site on 27 acres south of the Home Depot.

The project includes extending Tyee Drive from Home Depot to Israel Road and adding a roundabout at the new intersection. The changes will not only create access to the dealership, but also help mitigate current traffic woes on Trosper and Littlerock roads.

“This project has been a seamless partnership between the City, the developer and SCJ,” said Tyrell Bradley, SCJ’s project manager. “It has also been a great opportunity to work together within SCJ across our many disciplines.”

To create a buffer between residential neighborhoods and the development, a new pedestrian trail with planting buffers is planned around the perimeter of the site.

“It’s been fun to have environmentalists, permit specialists, planners, landscape architects and civil site development engineers all going places together,” Tyrell said. “I look forward to seeing the result.”

The dealership will move from its current location in the Olympia Auto Mall and is scheduled to open in the Tumwater location by the end of this year.
