SCJ team member soars in “ultimate” sport

Kevin Farrell #36, top middle, and his ultimate Frisbee club team out of Boise placed third in the Northwest Regional Tournament this year.

The USA Ultimate Frisbee National Championships are happening this weekend in Sarasota, Fla., and an SCJ staffer missed being there by one game!

Design Engineer Kevin Farrell competed with his club team at regionals last month in Corvallis, Ore. and placed third. First and second place teams advanced to the national tournament.

“The Northwest Regional Tournament was the top 16 coed teams in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Utah, Alaska, and British Columbia,” Kevin said. “We were seeded fifth going into the tournament and ended up third. I was really happy with how my team played.”

Kevin, who works out of our Wenatchee office, has been with SCJ for just under a year and has been playing Ultimate Frisbee for nearly five.

“I joined the club team for my school during my freshman year,” the civil engineering grad out of Northern Arizona University explained. “We played in tournaments all around the Southwest.”

When he moved to Wenatchee, he joined his current team, a coed group out of Boise, called BoyShe. You can follow all the BoyShe fun on the team’s twitter page at twitter.com/BoySheUltimate.
