San Francisco, CA

The San Francisco skyline is about to change. An 1100-foot-tall office building and adjacent multimodal Transbay Transit Center are being developed downtown.

A 5-acre city park will rest atop the Transit Center, and a gondola is planned to connect the plaza of the Transbay Tower to the roof-top park. The 20-passenger glass cabin will carry passengers from the new Mission Square to the much-needed additional green space and alert others that the park is open and accessible to everyone.

SCJ’s Engineering Specialties Group participated in the planning, feasibility, preliminary engineering and procurement of the park-plaza gondola.

Today, the team continues to offer support through design review, construction and commissioning and will continue to fill a key role in interfacing with state and local authorities to achieve system licensure and operation.
