San Francisco has a new addition to its skyline. The 1,100-foot-tall office building and adjacent multimodal Salesforce Transit Center downtown are now open.

A 5-acre city park rests atop the transit center, with a gondola connecting the plaza of the tower to the rooftop park. The 20-passenger glass cabin carries passengers from the new Mission Square to the much-needed additional green space and alerts others that the park is open and accessible to everyone.

SCJ’s engineers were responsible for the planning, feasibility, preliminary engineering, and procurement of the park-plaza gondola system.

The team also provided support through design review, construction, and commissioning, and was responsible for coordinating with state and local authorities to achieve system licensure and operation.
