Philadelphia, PA and Camden, NJ
Delaware River Port Authority
The proposed Delaware River Aerial Tram would connect Philadelphia, Penn. to Camden, N.J. It is designed to link visitor attractions on both sides of the river, making the combined waterfront a single destination.
SCJ provided planning and preliminary design services for the project, including feasibility, design, and specifications. The design team provided detailed analysis of an innovative ropeway plan that would use bridge suspension cables, in lieu of towers, to support the ropeway over the river.
The entire system would be installed into the existing active environment of the waterfront. The towers outside the water would reach heights of 300 feet, and the span across the river would be 1,900 feet long and at least 160 feet above the water.
