SCJ staff provided an independent audit review of the automated people mover system between the Clarian hospitals in Indianapolis, Ind.

The independent audit is required by the APM Standard, ASCE-21 to review all of the system elements responsible for system safety. The audit reviews the operational and maintenance practices and procedures, system configuration control, and operational experience.

In the case of the Clarian APM system, the system operation and maintenance is performed by a contractor for the owner. The audit looks directly to the System Safety Program Plan to determine the adequacy and effectiveness of the plan and how the plan is implemented by the operator.

SCJ staff interviewed operations personnel, observed standard practices, and recommended an update of the System Safety Program Plan. The team continues to provide support services for the system.
